Merrill Revitalization Group

        Merrill Center

A neighborhood association, the Merrill Revitalization Group, formed in August 1997. The group is organized by an Executive Committee and meets on a monthly basis throughout the year. MRG has subcommittees to address specific issues and, when appropriate, acts as liaison with the City of Beloit. The current sub-committees are: Traffic, Crime & Safety, Code Enforcement, Merrill Asset Planning, and Activities.

The Merrill Revitalization Group has worked to establish a rapport with the City of Beloit Police Department, City Manager, Community Development Department, Parks and Recreation Department, and Department of Public Works. MRG also networks with Neighborhood Watch groups.

Annual neighborhood clean-ups, personal safety & gang workshops, improved street lighting, CIP projects, revitalization of a neighborhood play-lot, surveying neighbors to achieve consensus on issues, changes in traffic patterns to increase safety, placing neighborhood trash receptacles, replacing a neighborhood identifying marker, ongoing dialogue with the Beloit Police Department, and a neighborhood planning project are examples of group activities and achievements.

"The mission of the Merrill Revitalization Group is to build a spirit of community. Our aim is to gather citizens of Beloit who identify assets and needs within the Merrill Neighborhood, target improvement goals, and to work together to achieve those goals. The Merrill Revitalization Group will seek to connect citizens to information and resources in order to build a better neighborhood. The group will strive to establish as safe and citizen friendly neighborhood."
